![]() While it isn't a great idea to ever put your caster into a situation where their armor class is checked, it'll probably happen sooner or later. Just right click it and your character will autoattack with it. If you want to use Acid Splash from now on for basic attacks, feel free to do so - it'll probably do more damage than a crossbow simply because it hits so much more often. With Precise Shot, your ranged touch attacks become close to guaranteed to hit. This build does give you access to UMD at this level however, so now you can use cleric scrolls if you really need to. Level 2 is the most disappointing level for a Sorcerer, since you get no new spells or feats. Mobility +1, Use Magic Device +1, Persuasion +1 Some might say that Magic Missile is superior to Burning Hands - this is absolutely true, but you get Magic Missile for free from your bloodline at level 3, so just be patient until then. Burning hands is a decent early attack spell that also finds a niche use in stomping a few annoying spider swarm type enemies early on. Grease is an amazing control spell that makes many encounters trivial, and you'll actually find uses for it for more or less the entire game which is remarkable for a humble level 1 spell. If you have a viper familiar make sure to click on the familiar button among your abilities so that you'll have a cute little snake following you around! The viper familiar is for increased persuasion, an arcane bond with an item is however an equally valid choice if you'd rather do that instead. After those two you're more or less free to choose whatever skills you want, personally I chose a mixture of Mobility, Knowledge (World), and Knowledge (Arcana) for this build.įeats: Point-blank Shot, Spell Focus (Conjuration) Skills: Knowledge (Arcana) +1, Knowledge (World) +1, Persuasion +1Īs far as skills go maxing persuasion is a really good idea, putting one point into use magic device is a no brainer since a single point unlocks the ability to use the skill which already has a high value from just your charisma and class bonuses. STR is the dump stat in this build as it's easily the least useful for a casting focused character (just remember it's not a great idea to take any melee touch attack spells with a low strength score, as those use strength instead of dexterity in their attack rolls). While CHA is your primary stat and you will be raising it at every opportunity, CON, INT, and especially DEX are also set fairly high for the multitude of perks they bring. Personally I prefer neutral good, but pick whatever you like. Add to this the fact that the free spells that Arcane gives you are pretty damn good compared to some of the comparatively terrible bloodline spell lists out there (*cough* draconic/elemental *cough*) and Arcane becomes a clear winner. This is because the Arcane bloodline gives you extra spells to choose (New Arcana) which is a huge deal for a Sorcerer, and it also gives you two different ways to increase your spell DCs above what would normally be possible (Bloodline Arcana via metamagic, and a flat +2 to a single school of your choice that stacks on top of spell focus via School Power). It is in my opinion by far the strongest bloodline in the game with perhaps only the Sylvan bloodline being a real threat to its supreme reign. The bloodline chosen for this build is Arcane. You don't get Glitterdust this way, but you do get Blindness instead, and both of them are good spells. Using it instead of an Aasimar changes nothing significant to this build so it's up to you. ![]() Meanwhile Glitterdust is a good spell and would have been worthy of consideration if you hadn't gotten a once per day cast of it here.Ī Beastbrood Tiefling is an alternative choice if you'd prefer to be a bit more demonic instead of angelic. The build also has a very high amount of persuasion which is particularly useful to have on your MC, as you can't always delegate it to party members and it'll enable you to talk your way past many obstacles.Ī Musetouched Aasimar gives you DEX and CHA bonuses, exactly what you need. This is a well rounded pure spellcasting sorcerer build that maximizes spell DCs (enemies will be less likely to resist many of your spells in case you're not sure what that means) on three highly useful spell schools: Conjuration, Transmutation, and Necromancy. ![]() However, you need to build it carefully, as mistakes at levelup are permanent once you've committed them to your save, and it's a lot easier to make mistakes with a spontaneous caster than with other classes. The sorcerer is in my opinion the strongest single class in the game. ![]()
